Call for papers: Immortality in Britain in the Eighteenth Century.

This panel invites proposals for twenty-minute papers that consider the
theme of immortality in a British eighteenth-century context, broadly
defined. Angles of approach may include, but are by no means limited to:
literary (poets and other authors claiming immortality, changing
definitions of literary immortality, canon formation); philosophical
(debates about the immortality of the self/soul); theological (competing
doctrines or homiletic/devotional representations of immortality); or
historical.

Please send a 500-word abstract by September 15th to Jacob Jost
(jjost_at_fas.harvard.edu). Inquiries welcome.
