I am proposing a special session on Teaching with American
Periodicals for next year's SAMLA convention, Nov. 4-6, 1999, in
Atlanta, Georgia.

I am seeking potential presenters experienced in using American
periodicals to teach American literature. I do not want formal
papers. Rather, presenters will have ten minutes to describe their
method and disseminate course materials, followed by ample time for
audience questions and discussion.

Proposals may focus on a particular writer and magazine or have a
broader emphasis.

Please send a proposal (preferably by e-mail) to me by April 1, 1999.
