"HUMANITIES FUTURES"
The Society for Critical Exchange is sponsoring two panels at the 1999 MLA
devoted to considerations of the humanities at the turn of the millennium.
Topics might include possible missions, and their prospects, in an era of
downsizing, outsourcing, and students becoming "customers" who seek
practical job training. How will the humanities shape and be shaped by
universities increasingly driven by market demands?
