Hitchcock: Centenary Conference

October 13-17, 1999
To commemorate the Hitchcock centenary, this five day international
conference is bringing together Hitchcock's film collaborators as well as
Hitchcock scholars from around the world to systematically evaluate the
director's oeuvre, to analyze his status as paradigmatic figure in what is
arguably *the* exemplary medium of the epoch, and to suggest future
directions for future Hitchcock scholarship.
The plenary sessions will feature (all confirmed): Dan Aulier, Charles
Barr, Raymond Bellour, Lesly Brill, Robert J. Corber, Jean Douchet, Lee
Edelman, Robert Kapsis, Leonard Leff, Thomas Leitch, Paula Marantz Cohen,
Laura Mulvey, James Naremore, Camille Paglia, William Rothman, Andrew
Sarris, Donald Spoto, Peter Wollen, Robin Wood, Slavoj Zizek.
There will also be a special session on 'French Hitchcock' featuring
Claude Chabrol.
The film collaborator panels include the actors 'Tippi' Hendren, Suzanne
Pleshette, Norman Lloyd, Teresa Wright, Eve Marie Saint, and Patricia
Hitchcock; the screenwriters Evan Hunter, Joseph Stefano, and Samuel
Taylor.
We will also have at least a dozen other panels formed through an open
call for papers. Abstracts (500 word maximum) are due by MARCH 1, 1999.
