CONFERENCE: CALL FOR PAPERS
Midwest Modern Languages Association
November 4 - 6, 1999
Special Session: "Lost and Found/Foreign and Familiar: Politics and Aesthetics
                             of (Cultural) Translation"

With the expansion of departments of literature and the broadening of our
understanding of notions of "identity," and with the increasing
acknowledgement of the reality and real difficulties of living bicultural,
bilingual lives, the labor of translation demands much discursive and
intellectual debate. Although a major issue in the study of literature,
translation is seldom discussed in existing sessions in professional
conferences. Papers on any aspect of translation are welcome.

Send abstracts by March 31 to
Dr. B. Badikian, 1867 N. Bissell, Chicago, IL 60614.
