The Willa Cather Pioneer Memorial and Educational Foundation and Occidental
College will host a national conference for Cather scholars and readers on
October 20-24, 1999.
Location: Far View Lodge in Mesa Verde National Park, Colorado.
Topics: The symposium will focus particularly on Cather's Southwest,
her literary uses of history, and her construction of an "American"
identity. Proposals for 20-minute critical papers are invited, however, on
all aspects of her work and life.
Deadline: April 1, 1999, for a 250-300 word abstract.
