Business and Mass Culture
A special session at the interdisciplinary "Business Culture/
Culture of Business" graduate student conference sponsored by the
English Graduate Group of San Jose State University, April 23 and 24,
1999.
Business often looks to mass culture to divine the next
high-profit product. EGG invites submissions that read this
relationship from a social science/humanities perspective.
Possible topics include but are not limited to:
+ Baby-boomer influence on mass culture
+ the subversive politics of advertising
+ toys and the indoctrination of children
+ the commerce of film and commerce on film
Please submit one-page abstracts to Jennifer Gouine at
gouine_j@cob.sjsu.edu Presentations are limited to twenty minutes.
Abstract deadline is March 1st, 1999.
