MLA Special Session Proposals for the 1999 Convention (these will not
appear in the February newsletter):

1. The Y2K Body:
Running out of time? The unruly millenniar body, injured, fragmented,
suffering, deformed, magnified, minimalized, sexualized, disabled, restored,
perfected, replicated. Theory and representation in literature, film, the
media, etc. Send 1-2 page abstracts and c.v. to Tammy Gravenhorst by March
19th.

2. Making the Grade: Students with Learning Disabilities at College
Disclosure, advocacy, responsibility, accommodation, and inclusion in
English and foreign language classrooms. Do our classrooms measure up?
Implications, obligations, concerns, strategies, solutions. Send 1-2 page
abstracts and c.v. to Allessandria Pollizzi by March 19th.

3.The "Deviant" Classroom II: "Some restrictions may apply."
Continuing the discussion of the implications of inclusion in higher
education. Students and teachers with disabilities getting in and staying in
the academy. Send 1-2 page abstracts and c.v. to Tammy Gravenhorst by March
19th.
