Harvard University's Asian American Policy Review

Volume IX: Asian Pacific Americans in the New Millennium

The Asian American Policy Review is currently accepting submissions for its Nineth Volume, entitled, "Asian Americans in the New Millennium," which will be published in December of 1999. The Review seeks articles and commentaries that deal with social issues and public policies likely to affect the Asian American community in the 21st century. In particular, the Review seeks articles which: (1) examine the social and political prospects for Asian Americans in the coming century; (2) analyze social problems or public policies that are likely to impact the Asian American community in the new millennium; or (3) synthesize past and present experiences of the Asian American community and draw conclusions regarding its future.

Topics of special interest to the Review include: (1) political and policy implications of the Year 2000 Census for Asian Americans (for example, the effect of redistricint on Asian American political power, the policy implications of Census definitions and data elements, etc.) (2) Asian American political strategy in the coming century (for example, coaltion building between ethnic groups, strategies of increasing electoral power or advancing certain issues, etc.) (3) the cultural/ethnic/racial identity of Asian Americans (for example,the model minority myth, ethnic divisions within the Asian American community, etc.) (4) the role of Asian American women in shaping the Asian American community; and (5) the future of Affirmative Action (in the workplace, in higher education, etc.)

These should be considered suggested topics, not requirements for submission.

Guidelines for Submissions:

Articles must be original and unpublished Commentaries should be between 2,000-3,000 words; research articles should be between 4,000-7,000 words in length A disk copy (Microsoft Word), and five hard copies, an abstract, author's name and biography (three sentences), address, and telephone number must be submitted by the deadline Citations must be formatted using the guidelines outlined in the Chicago Manual of Style
