Proposed special session for MLA, December 1999, Chicago

Title: "Writing Beyond Their Endings: Fan Fiction and Audience Response."
        This session will examine various issues concerning gender,
sexuality, and other topics associated with fan fiction (writings about,
or continuing, television programs like Xena: Warrior Princess, Buffy the
Vampire Slayer, The X-Files, or Star Trek). "Slash" fiction, fan-fic
readerships, "alternative" fan-fic, and the role of the Internet in
disseminating/classifying fan-fic are among the possible themes to
address.

Deadline: 15 March for 1 page abstracts
