CALL FOR PAPERS
23rd Annual NEASECS Conference
University of New Hampshire
Durham, NH
December 9-12, 1999
THEME: "Projects and Projectors: Inventions of the 'Enlightenment'"
This session will be addressing the contributions made by women in the 18th
century pertaining to literature, politics, medicine, science, or humanitarian
pursuits. Focus on their contributions and discuss how you teach these women
in today's classroom. You might want to concentrate on women who have written
essays, treatises, journal articles, plays, or novels. You might want to
acknowledge the fact that in order for some women to get published or
recognized, they had to go under a male name. How were women viewed in the
18th century, despite their contributions? How can you teach 18th century
women and their contributions in the 20th century classroom?
The deadline for submission is March 20. Please send a 1-2 page abstract or a
6-8 page paper to:
Ms. Karen Holleran
2304 West 3rd Street
Davenport, IA 52802
Remember, in order to participate in the conference, you must be a member of
NEASECS.
