Proposed session for 1999 MLA

Session title-- Following Fanon: Exploring Colonial and Postcolonial Psychology

As the title indicates, the purpose of this proposed session is to follow
the postcolonial pioneers Frantz Fanon and Albert Memmi in exploring the
psychology of colonization and decolonization. Papers may examine colonial
or postcolonial texts and authors, historical events, theoretical trends,
or political figures and organizations. All papers, however, should
approach the topic through the lens of psychological or psychoanalytic
theory.

Mail abstracts on or before April 1, 1999. I will respond on or before
April 4. The deadline for MLA proposals is April 7.

All participants in this panel must be members of MLA before April 1.
