Call for Papers: GEMCS 1999
Proposed Panel on "Rival Courts: the Political and Literary Labors of
Female Exiles in England and France, 1640-1700."
We are looking for papers on exiled, itinerant or politicking women
writers/aristocrats/regents/politicians in the seventeenth-century
(Queen Henrietta Maria, Anne-Marie Louis d'Orleans, Hortense Mancini
etc.). We are particularly looking for connections between English and
French women and literary endeavors, as well as for non-traditionally
'literary' representations of their labors.
Please send abstracts/proposals a.s.a.p to Julie Crawford
(jc830@columbia.edu) or Juliette Cherbuliez (cherbuli@sas.upenn.edu).
