CFP: Teaching Robinson Crusoe (6/15 & 7/1; collection)

From: Carl Fisher (FISHERC@APSU01.APSU.EDU)
Date: Thu May 06 1999 - 13:17:40 EDT

The MLA Publications committee has approved development of an "Approaches
to Teaching World Literature" volume on Defoe's _Robinson Crusoe_, to be
edited by Maximillian Novak and Carl Fisher. The volume will attempt to
connect theoretical and textual issues with pedagogical concerns in teaching
the novel. The series already includes "Approaches" to the Works of Samuel
Johnson, the poetry of Alexander Pope, and Swift's _Gulliver's Travels_,
among others.

If you wish to contribute to the volume, please send your name and address to
Sonia Kane at the MLA office (sonia.kane@mla.org) by June 15. She will
send you a questionnaire about teaching the novel. The completed
questionnaire, along with a proposal for the volume, would then be due
July 1.

If you have any questions about the volume, feel free to contact either
Prof. Novak (novak@humnet.ucla.edu) or Prof. Fisher (fisherc@apsu01.apsu.edu).
We will be happy to hear from any potential contributors.
