'Other' Authors:
Cultural Production 'on the Margins'
in the Nineteenth and Twentieth Centuries
A One Day Symposium at Kingston University (UK)
13 November 1999
This one-day symposium broadly considers questions of identity and
marginalisation in Britain over the last two centuries. What defines the
centre and periphery? Is the notion of the margin determined by
categories such as race, gender, and sexuality, or is it a more
complicated notion? We encourage participation from people working on a
variety of media, including literature, film, and art; interdisciplinary
approaches are welcome.
The conference will run from 10 am to 4.30 pm. Fees are set at L25, L15
for students. The conference will be held at the University's Penrhyn
Road site in suburuban London.
Prospective panelists are asked to submit abstracts of 250 words for
twenty-minute papers to the organiser by 15 September 1999.
