diverse disciplines and fields of study, including ethics and politics,
phenomenology and contemporary philosophy, literary theory, theology,
and Jewish studies.

   * Why do the writings of Levinas speak to this plurality of
     concerns?
   * How should one respond to this address by Levinas?
   * What violence would accompany the canonization of Levinas within
any tradition, discipline or field of study?

The conference will include an interdisciplinary and international group
of invited speakers as well as papers that will be accepted insofar as
they address and respond to the concerns and questions raised and
provoked by Levinas. Selected papers will be included in an anthology
expected to be published by Northwestern University Press.
