Venue: Main Quad, University of Sydney

CALL FOR PAPERS

 IN/BETWEEN is a one day interdisciplinary conference in conjunction
with History Week ‘99. The theme of History Week is “Endings and
Beginnings” and this conference aims to explore the
discourses of time and space connected with this topic. Submissions are
encouraged from a range of areas which may include histories,
literatures, media studies, religious studies,
and the visual and performing arts.

 Possible Themes include:

-- origins: ideologies and mythologies
-- commemoration, celebration and nostalgia
-- remembering and forgetting
-- spatial and temporal boundaries
-- constructions of time and space
-- politics of liminality
-- arrivals and departures
-- birth and death
-- futurism
-- apocalyptic narratives and millennial studies

PAPERS are 20min in length (approx. 3000 words)
ABSTRACTS should be 200 words

CLOSING DATE: Monday 9th August
