**Reading the Future**

November 5-6, 1999

The Graduate Center of the City University of New York

Send proposals for papers or sessions for panels of three speakers.

Topics which may be addressed include but are not limited to:

        * Representations of the Future in Visual Art, Literature and
                Philosophy

        * Modes and Methods of Reading in the Future

        * Future-Media-Discourses

        * Fins de Siecle

        * Utopia and Dystopia

        * Cultural Conceptions of Time

        * Avant-Gardes: Historicity and/vs Obsolescence

        * Disciplining the Future: The Future (of) Disciplines

Please submit proposals of approximately 250 words by August 31, 1999.

Those who wish to submit panels should include the title, chair of the
panel, brief summary topics, and participants.
