SUMMARY

Nineteenth-Century Periodical Literature and the Evolution of the American
Novel: Reading Proliferating Narrative Forms, Technologies, and
Identities.

Papers should focus on questions of fictional form in relation to
narrative position and identity and bring together research into the
history of print culture in order to generate theoretically innovative
understandings of the complete discursive development of US fiction.

Colleagues: Please submit papers or abstracts by email, fax, or regular
mail by September 15, 1999. Submissions must be postmarked by September
