Panel for the Northeast Modern Language Association convention in Buffalo,
NY, April 7-8, 2000.

NEW VERSIONS OF PASTORAL:

Is pastoral really a "dead" genre? Or has it continued to matter to
writers and readers, particularly during the past century? This panel is
open to a variety of perspectives upon the use of the pastoral mode in
Anglo-American literature as well as reflections upon its cultural and
theoretical resonance. Abstracts (300-500 words) due by Sept. 15.

Email responses are welcome.
