CALL FOR PAPERS
FILM & HISTORY AT NATIONAL PCA/ACA
(April 19-22, 2000)
This is Robert Fyne inviting adventurous
film scholars to submit 100-word abstracts to
me by 5 September on any Film & History
topic. Our participants try to analyze the
connections between motion pictures and
the changing cultures--American, European,
Asian, etc. Films that try to influence history
are considered as well as is television. A
look at the tables of contents for 26 years
(on the web site) should identify our scholarly
our paper trail.
Last year the Film & History Area had some
14 panels ranging from the silent period to the
most recent debates (at that time) over
_Saving Private Ryan_. (For an idea of our
interests, go to the Film & History Web site
where the panels for 1999 are listed at a click
point.)
We need to hear from our prospective participants
soon so that we can cluster interesting and insightful
panels for the meeting in New Orleans in late April.
(Deadline to me is 5 September.)

conference. I will be delighted to talk
