The Influence of Technology in Turn of the Century Literature

Share your research regarding the influence of technological advances
as recorded in fiction and/or non-fiction during the late 1860’s through
the early 1900’s. Utopian literature may be fertile with ideas for
technological influences during this period.

This is the 100 year anniversary of Pan Am 2001 in the "City of Light."
Technology played a huge role in the development of turn of the century
cities. I am interested in papers that address issues of technological
influence, especially in utopian literature. You might even consider a
comparison of slightly later writers such as Orwell and his view of
technology in society. I am open to all sides of the issue.
