Social Activism, Critical Theory, New Plays
Submissions sought for a panel to be proposed for the 2000 Association
for Theatre in Higher Education (ATHE) conference, Washington, DC,
August 2nd-5th.
Papers might address questions such as the following:
How might script development and performance become more productive
sites for advancing theoretical arguments and/or socio-political causes?
How can theatricality serve as a vehicle for conveying abstract ideas?
What strategies can contemporary playwrights, directors and dramaturgs
employ to incite audiences to effect social change?
Submit 250-word abstracts (or completed papers) for 20-minute
presentations by October 1st, 1999, to Kyle Bostian, Florida State
University, at:
