From: Sohui Lee (sohui@bu.edu)
Date: Thu Sep 02 1999 - 18:12:54 EDT

The goal of this panel session of NEMLA (Northeast/MLA) is to present
papers that re-think and revise ways of looking at nationhood drawn by
ante-bellum intellectuals and writers, particularly in a discourse of
national self-consciousness which fused cultural myths of its political
institutions in literature. Submissions on Jacksonian/Whig influence on
fiction are especially welcome.

A page-length abstract (500 words) and a curriculum vitae by NOVEMBER 1,
1999 should be send via post or via email <sohui@bu.edu>. Please include
postal address, telephone number and email address on submissions.
