CALL FOR PAPERS: SHAKESPEARE ON FILM
The Southwest/Texas Popular Culture Association and American Culture
Associations are again holding their annual meeting in Albuquerque,
February 9-12. Last year's meeting, held at the Old Town Sheraton,
provided some very provocative and entertaining presentations, as well as
great food, excellent museums and wonderful galleries.
1999 has been a landmark year for Shakespeare on film. From "Shakespeare
in Love" to Michelle Pfeiffer's "A Midsummer Night's Dream," film makers
are again popularizing the Bard. The Shakespeare on Film and Television
area of the SW/Texas PCA is issuing a call for papers for the 2000
conference. Re-settings, modernizations, adaptiations, comparative
analyses, the effect of production values on interpretation, film vs
video...present on your current passion! Submit a 200 word abstract by
October 15th. Hope to hear from a lot of you soon. Let's try for two
panels this year!
