                Second Annual Graduate Student Conference
                        10-12 February, 2000
              The Graduate Program in Comparative Literature
              Department of Modern Languages and Literatures
                     University of Western Ontario

We invite proposals for 20-minute papers on literature, visual arts,
cinema, music, social sciences, philosophy, etc. Topics include, but are
not restricted to:

        * Silenced Voices
        * The Governed and the Governing
        * Void-Loops in Literature
        * Law and (Ill)-Communication
        * Sexuality and Censorship
        * Genderography
        * Blank Spaces
        * Acts of Silence
        * Punctuation
        * Writing as Re-vision
        * Speech and Identity
        * Pauses
        * Glossolalia
        * Public Spaces, Public Noises

Proposals in English or French (250-500 words) should be accompanied by a
short CV and address, and submitted by 15 November, 1999.
