*MICHIGAN FEMINIST STUDIES* CALL FOR PAPERS
************************************************************************
Michigan Feminist Studies seeks submissions for its 1999-2000 issue:
************************* "Masculinities" ******************************
Michigan Feminist Studies, an annual publication edited by graduate
students, addresses current issues in feminist and gender studies. As an
interdisciplinary journal, we hope to attract papers from a variety of
disciplines. Recently, the question of masculinity has become an
important concern for feminist theory. What are the motivations,
manifestations, and implications of this trend? We invite papers that
address the theme of "Masculinities" in creative ways and work to further
the project of feminist analysis. Possible approaches to the topic might
include but are by no means limited to:
* masculinities and feminist theory * phallocentrism
* gay male/queer theory and feminism *
* male violence * new faces/phases of masculinity * the male body *
* masculinity and commodity culture * aging and male sexuality *
* masculinities across race, class, nationality and sexuality *
* childhood development * cybermasculinities
* gender identity formation * gender norm conformity/transgression *
* colonial/postcolonial masculinities * sports and gender *
* male erotica/pornography * art history * medical ethics *
* language and/or linguistics * social activism *
* conflation of gender and sexuality in popular culture *

single-sided copies. Please include a 150-200 word abstract, a brief
biographical note, institutional and departmental affiliation, address,
