Call for Papers : "Corporate America and Its Images"

For the 2000 Southwest-Texas
    Popular Culture/American Popular Culture Association.

CONFERENCE LOCATION and DATE:

Albuquerque, NM 87104
February 9-12, 2000

The session for "Corporate America and Its Images" invites proposals not
only from professors of business marketing and advertizing art but also
from those interested in the semoitics (signs) of corporate images and
their reflection of corporate popular culture. Also, rhetoricians might
want to explore corporate images as they reflect the "presentational"
ethos of representative American enterprise. Topics also include
corporate image as reflected in advertizements or on company web sites.

Other Topics Include:
--Is the Medium Really the Message?
--To What Extent Does Corporate America Use Popular Culture in Business
Advertizing Art?
--What Does the Corporate Image Tell Us About Our Popular Culture?
--Whose Image It?
--Does Corporate Image Reflect Cultural Values (or Ethics)?
--Are There Distinct Differences Between Corporate Images in One Country
(or Ethnic Group) and Those of Another? (What do the differences
suggest?)
--How Has Corporate Image Changed in the Last 30 Years? (What does the
change suggest?)
