CFP: Sports and Popular Culture (no deadline noted; SW/TX PCA/ACA, 2/9-2/12)

CALL FOR PAPERS: SPORTS. The Popular Culture Association/American Culture
Association will hold a series of panels on sport at the SW/Texas regional
conference, 9-12 February 2000, in Albuquerque, NM.

Papers are wanted on sport-related topics, especially those associated with
the southwestern U.S., Texas, and Mexico. Presentations on all aspects of
sport are welcome; the topics of Native American and Hispanic sport
participation, school and amateur sport as elements of local culture, rodeo,
sport as business, sport and religion, and fan behavior would be especially
appropriate. The use of slides and videos to illustrate papers is encouraged.
