CALL FOR PAPERS: TEXAS CULTURE
The Southwest Texas Popular Culture Association and the American
Culture Association regional conference will be in Albuquerque, New Mexico on
February 9-12, 2000, at the Sheraton Old Town Hotel, 800 Rio Grande Blvd.,
Albuquerque 87104 (505) 843-6300.
Culture can be broadly defined as a "learned behavior" which includes
* language * religion
* clothing * race and
ethnicity
* politics * history
* settlement patterns * organizations
Culture can also be approached as the manner in which we survive by
struggling with the environment, in time, the elements of that struggle -
practices, habits, traditions, customs, and beliefs - become institutions
which make up our culture.
Therefore, papers on Texas Culture about 20 minutes reading time on
topics relating to any of the elements of this culture will be considered.
