        CALL FOR PAPERS

The RESEARCH SOCIETY FOR AMERICAN PERIODICALS (RSAP) will sponsor two
sessions at the American Literature Association Conference, to be held
May 25-28, 2000, in Long Beach, California. The topics for the sessions
are:

        1) "Women Editing Periodicals"
        We are interested in papers that go beyond biography. "Periodicals"
may be conceived broadly, including magazines, newspapers, women's
editions, gift annuals, amateur press periodicals, children's magazines,
etc. We also welcome papers about organizations of women in the
profession.
        This RSAP session will be complemented by a session sponsored by the
Society for the Study of
American Women Writers, coordinated by Sharon M. Harris of the University
of Nebraska. The two sessions will be presented as "Women Editing
Periodicals I & II."
        We welcome inquiries. Send one-page proposals for this session to both of
the following
