One-day conference: Cultural Studies and the Working Class Reconsidered

Venue: The Docklands Campus, University of East London

Revised Date: January 29th 2000 ( NOT 4th December 1999 as previously advertised).

Speakers: Sally Munt, Andy Medhurst & Beverley Skeggs

Papers are invited on the following topics: The aesthetics/ rhetoric of class Autobiography and classed subjectivities Class & resistance/shame Humour & the carnivalesque Cinema & class- representation & consumption Working class masculinities/femininities Reconceptualising class through postmodernism/ postcolonialism Class as a historical and geographical variable Class(ic) texts revisited Class wars- the politics of activism

The list above is not exclusive and we welcome additional suggestions.
