Call for Proposals:
The Great Plains Alliance for Computers and Writing invites teachers of
all disciplines and grade levels to submit proposals for workshops, paper
presentations, multimedia presentations, panels, and poster presentations
for the 3rd Annual GPACW Conference, to be held Saturday, February 26th
and Sunday, February 27th, at the University of South Dakota in
Vermillion. We seek proposals incorporating the theme of "Computers and
Writing: A Creative Fusion." Because we are holding the GPACW Conference
concurrently with the John R. Milton Writers Conference, a regional
literature conference with this year's focus on Siouxland novelist
Frederick Manfred, we especially welcome proposals that incorporate
threads on great plains/regional writing or the sense of place in writing.
In addition, we welcome presentations that open up the concept of
hypertext, as a series of interconnected packets of information, that
might include text, graphics, sounds, and more. Therefore, multimedia
sessions/presentations involving oral history, visual art, music, dancing,
etc., are encouraged.
We are also soliciting proposals in the following areas:
**Online discussion and collaboration
**the MOO or other synchronous spaces as "places" for writing to evolve
**Native American approaches to information, writing, literature, etc.
**Computers and WAC (Writing Across the Curriculum)
**Creating Connections Through Computers and Writing in Distance Classes
**Inspiring Students, Teachers, and Others to Create Interesting and
Effective Hypertext
**Facilitating Computer-Based Written Communication Among Students
**Using Computers and/or the Internet to Help Create a Sense of
Audience in Student Writers
