The Ninth Annual Graduate Student Conference of the Department of French
and Romance Philology at Columbia University

BEGINNINGS AND ENDINGS

As we approach the close of the century and the advent of a new millenium,
we invite you to participate in an interdisciplinary conference exploring
this timely theme as it manifests itself in all periods of French and
Francophone literature. We welcome proposals touching upon beginnings and
endings in all of their literary incarnations, formal or thematic, from
the Medieval prologue to the fall of Colonialism.

Please submit abstracts of no more than 500 words in length in English or
in French by Monday, January 24, 2000 to:
