The body, intact or fractured, has long been a site of
polemics. Who or what scribbles on it, (dis)members it,
(re)inscribes it? How do contagion, contact and culture
subvert or (re)construct teh body?
Abstracts for twenty minute papers that address the
body in areas including, but not limited to, its
textual, visual and other cultural representations are
welcome. Abstracts in English of no more than 500 words
are to be received by e-mail or regular mail, no later
than Monday, January 24, 2000, by:
