Call for Papers
Graduate students are invited to submit proposals for an interdisciplinary
symposium on British and Commonwealth studies to be held at the
University of Buffalo on April 28th,
2000. The conference will explore a variety of issues related
to British and Commonwealth culture, history, literature, art, music,
philosophy, and visual culture from a variety of historical periods from
the Middle Ages to the present.
Possible avenues of investigation might include, but are not limited to:
-Feminism/Feminist Theory
-Marxism and Cultural Materialism
-Psychoanalysis
-Queer Theory
-History and Historiography
-Colonialism and/or Postcolonial Theory
-The Body
-Philosophy
-Race
-Aesthetics
-Nationalism, Internationalism, and/or Globalism
-Space
Individual talks should be no longer than twenty minutes. Panels will run
for one and a half hours.

-A one-page abstract; please include your academic affliation and address.
