M/MLA Convention 2000--Kansas City, November 2-4
AMERICAN LITERATURE II: LITERATURE AFTER 1870.
The Literary Century: Assessing Significances.
At the end of the so-called American Century, how will we (or should
we) remember its literature? What trends, issues, debates, or
conflicts will remain central to our understanding of this century's
literary achievement?
Wide-ranging discussions are especially welcome. Emphasis on
individual authors and texts only when linked to broader issues or
movements.
