    Call for Papers

    Electronic Publishing in Rhetoric and Composition

    The editors of _Enculturation_ seek papers for a special issue on
    "Electronic Publishing in Rhetoric and Composition." Papers may address
    but are not limited to these possible topics:

     * The value of electronic publications in terms of the job market,
    tenure, merit pay, etc.
     * The value of editing e-journals for the above.
     * Issues of collaboration in writing/editing for the web.
     * New definitions of writing that arise with publishing in electronic
    environments.
     * Why e-journals go print.
     * Why print journals go e.
     * Histories of electronic publishing in the discipline (journals and
    web sites).
     * Web sites in Rhetoric and Composition and their relationship to
    disciplinarity.
     * The status and/or form of the hypertext essay as a genre.
     * How (via what criteria) should we edit an electronic text?
     * Alternate formats for e-journals.
     * Ethos and electronic publishing.
     * Journal websites as advertising for print.
     * Libraries, archives, databases and electronic publishing.
     * The relationship between e-journals and academic presses.
     * The relationship among e-journals, departments, and universities.
     * Should e-journals be free or password protected?
     * Getting funding for e-journals.
     * E-journal or just journal: do e-journals need the qualification?
     * Electronic publishing and virtual rhetorics.
     * Post-print literacies and assessment.

    IN ADDITION to academic projects/papers, we are interested in personal
    narratives or editorials regarding positive or negative experiences with
    review committees or editorial boards; musings about the impact of the
    Internet on print journals or thoughts for future engagements;
    multi-media projects; reviews of web sites/projects related to Rhetoric
    and Composition; reviews of e-journals.

    All submissions DUE by October 15, 2000. Please send submissions to:
