I am seeking a few articles to complete my collection, _Jane Sexes It
Up: True Confessions of Feminist Desire_, forthcoming from Four Walls,
Eight Windows spring 2001. I have some very specific gaps I'd like to
address:
*bisexuality and third wave feminism
*leather culture and third wave feminism (hard women, the phallic woman,
etc.)
*women of color and sexuality (specifically, what are the problems and
pleasures surrounding being sexual as a woman of color when historically
this group of women has been subjugated on the basis of excess
sexuality; you might consider such pop culture manifestations of this
desire as L'il Kim, Erykah Badu, Me'Shell N'degocello, or others who
seem to be "confessing" to desire and confronting the politics of this
confession.
*feminism and specific sexual practices (several people indicated
interest at a recent conference in writing about feminism and "doing it
doggy-style" as lesbians or heterosexual women, but no one followed up
on email, so send queries if still interested).
***IMPORTANT NOTE*** It is imperative that your idea combine theory with
autobiography, basing your exploration of politically complicated erotic
desires in your own life stories and driving the article with narrative
rather than jargon.
Send queries to Lisa Johnson at: ljohnson@westga.edu asap. For those
selected, completed manuscripts will be due late summer.
Please cross-post to any relevant listservs.
