Call for papers: The International Journal of Sexuality and Gender
Studies is seeking scholarly essays for a special issue entitled
"Queer Webs: LGBT Lives on the Internet."

Each essay should address or explore a significant issue related to
the nexus of LGBT sexuality/gender and Internet technology.
Topics may include, but should not be limited to, the following:
queer theory and the Internet; LGBT cybersex; "coming out" on the
Web; gay digital dating; queer fetish and Web niches; the
transformation of gay identity on the Web; studies of Internet
queers from an international perspective; gay consumers and the
Web; the "internationalization of LGBT communities vis-a-vis the
Web; the impact of "blocking" softwares on LGBT youth; and
    others.

Disciplinary orientations may include sociological, anthropological,
and political perspectives, feminist analyses, queer theoretical
approaches, literary and media studies, psycholanalytic
examiniations, and others. Ultimately, your critical approach,
which may vary widely and can be interdisciplinary, is not as
important as depth of insight and substantive discussion.

If you are interested in contributing to this special issue, pelase
send by email or ground mail an abstract of approximately 150
words by July 1, 2000 outlining your essay for consideration. Final
drafts of essays are due no later than December 1, 2000. We ask
that the final drafts are kept to under approximately 6000 words.
