    The Southwest/Texas Popular Culture Association and the American Culture
    Association invite scholars and students to submit papers in the area of:

    Cross Border (Mis)Representation: How Canadians and Americans Portray Each
    Other in Books, Film and Television.

    The conference will be held March 7-10, 2001 at the Sheraton Old Town in
    Albuquerque, New Mexico.

    Topics may include, but are not limited to:
    Portraits of the great white north and the deep south.
    The "I am Canadian" rant.
    Draft dodgers and peace keepers.
    Movie muses: the mountie and the ranger.
    The use of the American/Canadian in humour.
    Columbine and Taber: portraits of tragedy.

    Send a 200 word abstract and short c.v. by Dec. 1, 2000 to:
