Contributions are sought for a collection of essays focusing on the
origins of the notion of disability and its resulting cultural
configurations. Possible topics may include the developing relationship
between "ability" and "disability," representations of disability and
labor or work, the teaching, reading, and writing of disability,
disability as an emerging construct, disability as collapsing construct,
Victorian/modern/postmodern images of disability, social
performance/impersonation and disability, and the relationship between
"disability," "illness," and "culture." The editor welcomes a diversity
of theoretical approaches as well as contributions from scholars with a
more interdisciplinary focus. Contirbutions from graduate students are
also welcomed.
