    The abstract submission deadline for ICOLL 2000 has been moved forward to June
    10, 2000.

    October 20-21, 2000 @ Texas A&M University, College Station Texas

    The English Graduate Student Association of Texas A&M University announces
    its Interdisciplinary Conference On Language and Literature. You are invited
    to submit abstracts (500 words) addressing any aspect of the conference's
    theme, "Performances of Identity" which explores the myriad relationships
    between "self" and representation. Complete panel proposals are also
    encouraged and should include the panel's title, participants' names, and
    paper abstracts. All approaches in the humanities are welcome. Submissions
    should be postmarked no later than Thursday June 1, 2000. Electronic

    Possible topics addressing the performance of identities might include the
    following:

    Autobiographies/ Biographies
    Artists' Self-portraits
    Philosophical Definitions of Subjectivity
    Legal Definitions of What Constitutes a Person
    Multicultural Literature/Multiculturalism
    Race and/or Gender
    Cross-Dressing--for men and for women
    Gay and Lesbian Studies
    Women's Studies
    Writing from the Margin
    Negotiating Between Academic Identities
    Negotiating the Profession
    Literary Theory
    Film/Stage
    Colonialism/Post Colonialism
    Pseudonymous/Anonymous Writers
    Creative Writing--Fiction and Poetry that addresses the conference theme
    Propose your own complete panel (3-4 presenters per panel)

    The following topics are being sponsored by the Discourse-Oriented Student
    Society of Texas A&M. If your submission relates to any of these topics,
    please write "DSSA" on your abstract/panel proposal.

    Interstices in Classical and Modern Rhetoric
