Trials and Triumphs: The Dissertation Process

Proposals are solicited from graduate students writing dissertations on
American women writers. From setting up and working with your committee
to researching and writing the chapters themselves, the dissertation
process can be simultaneously exhilarating, rewarding, confusing, and
isolating. This panel will attempt to open up a discussion of the
trials and triumphs of the dissertation process. I envision panelists
discussing their dissertation projects (or smaller sections or chapters
of larger projects), as well as the processes of researching, writing,
working with directors/committees/peers, presenting at conferences, and
preparing for the defense. I would especially like to see panelists
considering what it means to be a feminist scholar throughout this
process. 10-15 minute papers will be followed by a discussion with the
    audience. Multi-author papers are welcome.

Please send a 250-word abstract to me by August 15. I am in the process
of moving, so my mailing address and my email address do not correspond,
but I will be able to receive proposals either way.
