Call for Papers: Panel on Native American Women Writers at SSAWW

Feb. 14-18, 2001
Proposals are solicited for a panel on Native American women writers for
the inaugural meeting of the Society for the Study of American Women
Writers (SSAWW). I will consider all proposals I receive but am most
interested in papers that consider the challenges (and possibilities) that
Native women offer to conceptions of the literary, of writing, and of
authorship. Papers that consider, for instance, multiply authored or
heavily edited texts, as-told-to or transcribed oral narratives, or works
in non-EuroAmerican or mixed genres, would be particularly appropriate.
Papers that consider lesser-known (or lesser-studied) and/or earlier Native
women writers are also especially welcome.
