Proposals are sought for the following panels at "Craft, Critique, Culture:
An Interdisciplinary Conference on Writing in the Academy," to be held at
the University of Iowa on September 29-October 1, 2000:

    "Pedagogy and Pleasure"

This panel will explore the relationship between aesthetic experience and
the classroom. Papers or presentations might address the relationship
between pleasure and critique, art and critical literacy, or the role of
    power and pleasure in pedagogy.

    "Craft and Theory of Hypertext"

This panel will focus on the emerging controversies surrounding hypertext
as both practice, art-object, and theory. Papers or presentations might
address hypertext as craft, theory, and/or art, as well as the uses of
    hypertext in the classroom.

    "Women Writing in the Academy"

This panel will focus on the challenges and experiences that are unique to
women writing in the university. Papers and presentations might address
women's experiences as critics and/or theorists, women in the workshop, or
women who engage in both creative and critical writing.

    "Contemporary Poetry"

This panel will explore the role of poetry in contemporary culture. Papers
or presentations might address the relationship of contemporary poetry to
the academy, the wider culture, or the publishing industry.
