    CALL FOR PAPERS

    American Presidency on Film National Conference: Presidents and Nuclear
    Crises Panel

    I am organizing a panel on Presidents and Nuclear Crises for the American
    Presidency on Film National Conference, which will take place from November
    10-12, 2000 at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library. Possible films for
    discussion include:

    Dr. Strangelove (1964)
    Fail Safe (1964)
    Colossus: The Forbin Project (1969)
    Twilight's Last Gleaming (1977)
    Countdown to Looking Glass (1984)

    If you would like to present a paper on one of these or other
    nuclear-related films, please contact me at the address given below. Papers
    on other aspects of the relationship between or depiction of cinematic
    presidents and nuclear crises are also welcome. Participants must submit a
    200-300-word proposal regarding their paper.

    Deadline is 1 September at the very latest.
