    Space, culture, power: an interdisciplinary conference
    Tues. 10 April - Wed. 11 April 2001
    University of Aberdeen
    Deadline for abstracts: Friday 1st September

    Call for papers:
    Anthropologists, historians, archaeologists, sociologists,
    geographers, architects and social, cultural and literary critics are
    all invited to contribute papers which discuss, apply, or interrogate
    the terms 'space', 'culture', 'power'. Topics might include (but are
    no means limited to):

    Discipline and governance, resistance and subversion
    Consumption and exchange
    Production (economic, social, cultural, architectural etc.)
    Body and mind
    Gender relations
    Race and ethnicity
    Urban and rural landscapes
    Language and representations
    Sacred spaces
    Change and mobility (social and physical)
    Archaeologies and technologies
    Communities, place and identity

    Submission guidelines:
    300-400 word abstracts. Please include cover sheet providing name,
    institutional affiliation, address, phone no., and email address.
    Submissions may be posted - although email submissions are preferred.
