13th International James Fenimore Cooper Seminar and Summer Course
Call for Papers
SUNY College at Oneonta will host the 13th International James Fenimore
Cooper Seminar and Summer Course from July 9th through the 13th, 2001.
This event gives scholars an opportunity to discuss James Fenimore
Cooper, his daughter, Susan Fenimore Cooper, and their time period in a
congenial and festive atmosphere in the heart of Cooper Country, an
immensely charming area of upstate New York.
The theme of the 13th seminar is "The Environment as Moral Force:
Yesterday and Tomorrow." Chief texts are The Prairie and Rural Hours
though papers need not be limited to these books.
Paper lengths of 8-10 pages (or twenty minutes reading time) are
currently being sought. Attached to the seminar is a summer course for
graduate and undergraduate credit in History and English.
