The International Rhetoric Council Press is pleased to announce a call for
papers for a new monograph series, “The Poetics of Reception,” to be
published in Spring 2001. Textuality itself comes fraught with a wide range
of definitions and complications, not least among them the question of
reception. We take as a postmodern given the distance between what is
written and how it is received, but what occurs at this moment of reception?
What are the difficulties of receiving as well as transmitting? Recognizing
the multivalent nature of reception, we invite dialogue around the nature
and implications of reception and its attendant given, the placement that
reception implies. We hope to encourage participation of scholars from
varied and diverse disciplines—from both the sciences and the humanities,
inviting voices poetic as well as critical.

    Each submission should include:

    · A title and brief description.

    · A 500-word abstract.

    · Name, address, institutional affiliation, and phone number(s) or email.

Please submit proposals, abstracts, or full papers by 15 December 2000 to:
